Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Saint Joseph's defeated Saint Peter's 10-2 in a non-conference softball contest on Wednesday afternoon. The second game of the doubleheader was cancelled due to rain.
Nicole Feoli (Burlington Twp, N.J. / Burlington) paced the Peacocks (1-12) with two hits and one run scored. Nicole Olmedo (Chino, Calif. / Chino) and Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay) each picked up a RBI in the loss.
Melissa Ruf powered the Hawks (16-6) with one hit, one run and two RBIs. Sarah Yoos tallied two hits and two runs in the victory.
Saint Peter's got on the board first in the opening inning. Feoli got things going with a base-hit to centerfield followed by a stolen base. Next at-bat, Olmedo hit a single to right field to advance the runner home for the 1-0 edge.
The Hawks took the lead in the third inning, following a two-run homerun down the left field line from Ruf. Saint Joseph's added three more runs in the fourth inning, fueled by a RBI hit and run scored by Cyndi Wilson to lead 5-1.
The Peacocks cut into the margin in the sixth inning, following a groundout RBI from Storms to score Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado) from third base.
Saint Joseph's extended its lead with five runs in the bottom of the sixth, fueled by RBI base-hits from Alexis Bush, Traneya White, Alexia Faulkner and capped off by a homerun from Lauren Reilly en route to the 10-2 victory.
The Peacocks return to action on Saturday when they open up league play against Quinnipiac.
