QUEENS, N.Y. – Queens (N.Y.) defeated Saint Peter's 6-1 in a non-conference women's tennis matchup on Wednesday.
The Knights (11-2) opened up winning all three doubles contests. In No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Andrea Samson and Angelika Sobiecka defeated the team of Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania / Schiller International School) and Lucia Radovic (Zadar, Crotia / Skola Primientiene Umietnosti Dizajna), 8-2. Queens won No. 2 doubles 8-6 and won No. 3 doubles by forfeit.
In No. 1 singles, Halagian dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Jenna Plevako. Mali Hedberg (Oxnard, Calif. / Oxnard [Eastern Washington]) and Elena Melian Puigventos (Gran Canaria, Spain / Canlebury School of las Palmas) both dropped their singles contests.
Saint Peter's (4-7) picked up its lone point in No. 4 singles, as Radovic downed Kamil Sumeera in straight sets, 7-6, 6-2 (5).
Queens won both No. 5 and No. 6 singles by forfeit.
The Peacocks return to action on Mar. 28 with a non-conference contest at Hofstra.
