JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's defeated Manhattan 6-0 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's tennis matchup on Sunday.
The Peacocks (5-7) opened up taking all three doubles contest. The tandem of Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania / Schiller International School) and Lucia Radovic (Zadar, Crotia / Skola Primientiene Umietnosti Dizajna) won their doubles contest, 8-5. In No. 2 doubles, Mali Hedberg (Oxnard, Calif. / Oxnard [Eastern Washington]) and Elena Melian Puigventos (Gran Canaria, Spain / Canlebury School of las Palmas) won their doubles matchup, 8-5. Saint Peter's won No. 3 singles by default.
In singles play, Halagian defeated Gabrielle Leon, 6-4, 6-2. Hedberg won a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Caitlin Bricketto in No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Puigventos defeated Alyssa Rosello in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 10-6.
Radovic defeated Shivani Patel in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-4. Christian Resurreccion (Jersey City, N.J. / McNair Academy) won her singles matchup against Diana Onichshenko, 6-0, 6-2. The Peacocks won No. 6 singles by default.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 1 to compete against ASA College at the U.S Tennis Center. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
