Box Score PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania defeated Saint Peter's 11-4 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday.
Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township) paced the Peacocks (1-15-1) with two hits, two runs scored and an RBI. The junior smacked his second career homer after hitting his first round tripper of his career against Penn last season on Apr. 9, 2013.
Rob Moore (Ridge, N.Y./Longwood) added two hits and an RBI while Nick Henriquez (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) and James Spadaccini (Butler, N.J./Butler) each registered a hit and an RBI in the loss.
Mitch Montaldo powered the Quakers (8-9) with two homers, two runs scored and three RBIs while Tim Graul posted two hits including a home run, a run scored and three RBIs and Jonah Campbell posted a hit and two RBIs in the winning effort.
Penn jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back en route to an 11-4 victory.
The Quakers got the scoring started with two runs in the first on RBI groundouts by Campbell and Austin Bossart for a 2-0 advantage.
Graul increased the margin to three runs on an RBI single in the second.
Campbell recorded an RBI single and Matt Greskoff was hit by a pitch in the third to increase the Penn margin to 5-0.
Saint Peter's got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Kristoffersen smacked a solo homerun to right center to trim the margin to 5-1.
Montaldo smacked a solo homer and Gary Tesch hit a run-scoring single to answer right back in the fourth for the Quakers increase the margin to 7-1.
In the fifth, Sean Henry (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) doubled and came around to score on Spadaccini's run-scoring single to right to cut the score to 7-2.
Graul hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth and Montaldo smacked a two-run homer and Graui followed with a solo shot in the seventh to give Penn an 11-2 lead.
The Peacocks scored twice in the eight to set the final score at 11-4. Kristoffersen doubled with one out, moved to third on a wild pitch and touched home on Moore's sacrifice fly to right. Nick Ciocco (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) then walked and came around to score on Henriquez's RBI double to left field.
Willie Krajnik (Lyndhurst, N.J./Saint Mary) made his collegiate debut on the mound in the game and took the loss.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Friday when the squad starts a three-game series at UMBC. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
