Box Score 2 STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Wagner defeated Saint Peter's in non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
In the opening contest, Lee Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev. / Coronado) and Stacey Klempel (Winter Garden, Fla. / Ocoee [Indian River State]) fueled the Peacocks (1-18) with two hits and one RBI each.
Taylor Beeson powered Wagner (7-12) in the opening tilt with two hits, two RBIs and one run scored. Beth Lewis tallied one hit, one RBI and two runs scored in the winning effort.
Wagner got on the board first in the opening inning following a RBI-single from McKaleigh Goodale to score Beeson for the 1-0 lead.
Saint Peter's took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning following a pair of solo homeruns from Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) and Harrison.
The Seahawks countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, following a two-run single from Beeson up the middle to advance Brianna Tredway and Laura Petri for the 3-2 edge.
Wagner scored two more runs in the third inning, powered by RBIs from Aerika High and Brianna Tredway to take a 5-2 advantage.
Saint Peter's cut into the margin in the fifth following a solo homerun from Klempel. It was her first homerun in a Peacocks uniform.
The Seahawks responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo homerun from Lewis. Wagner added insurance in the sixth inning with a two-run home from Kelsey Parker to secure an 8-3 game one victory.
In the second game, the Seahawks took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off a wild pitch that allowed Reice to advance home from third. Wagner added another run in the fifth inning with a score from Beeson off a Peacock error.
Saint Peter's had opportunities to score in both the second and sixth innings, having runners on third base, but were unable to advance the runners home.
Nicole Olmedo (Chino, Calif. / Chino) paced Saint Peter's in game two, going two-of-three at the plate. Candice Koch (Orland Park, Ill. / Carl Sandburg), Jillian Silvanic (Owego, N.Y. / Owego Free Academy) and Alyssa Ruiz (Howell, N.J. / Howell) each recorded a hit.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 4, when the team resumes league play with a doubleheader at Manhattan.
