SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Siena defeated Saint Peter's 5-2 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's tennis match on Saturday.
The Saints (2-9, 1-3 MAAC) opened up winning two of three doubles contests.
In No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador / APCH) and Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia / [UMKC]) defeated the team of Darren Reisch and Diego Lebron, 8-3. The duo of Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada / Laurel Spring) and Jonathan Paredes (North Bergen, N.J. / North Bergen) dropped their doubles contest, 8-3. Siena earned the No. 3 doubles win by forfeit for the 1-0 lead.
Carrera scored a point for the Peacocks (5-12, 1-3 MAAC) in No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Reisch. Saint Peter's took a 2-1 lead in No. 2 singles when Ivanov cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lebron.
Siena tied the contest in No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Bellomi. The Saints took the lead in the No. 4 singles after Paredes dropped a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Matthew Funciello. Siena won No. 5 and No. 6 singles by forfeit en route to the win.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 12 when they continue league at Marist. Opening serve is set for 12 p.m.
