SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Siena defeated Saint Peter's 6-1 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's tennis contest on Saturday.
The Saints (7-9, 3-2 MAAC) opened up winning all three doubles contests.
In No. 1 doubles, the team of Mitsuki Fukamachi and Ali Garrity defeated Adina Ungurean-Halagian (Bucharest, Romania / Schiller International School) and Lucia Radovic (Zadar, Crotia / Skola Primientiene Umietnosti Dizajna), 8-1. Cassandra Braz and Jessica Macaluso held on for an 8-6 win over Elena Melian Puigventos (Gran Canaria, Spain / Canlebury School of las Palmas) and Claudia Hellman (Madrid, Spain / Scandinavian School [Brevard]) in No. 2 doubles. Siena won the third doubles matchup by forfeit.
In No. 1 singles, Garrity won a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Halagian. Hellman was defeated (6-1, 6-2) by Rina Seki in straights. In No. 3 singles, Allysa Singh won a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Puigventos.
Saint Peter's (5-9, 3-3 MAAC) tallied its lone point in No. 4 singles when Radovic downed Macaluso in three sets, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-7).
The Peacocks dropped its final two singles contests to secure the victory for Siena.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 12 when they wrap up its road trip at Marist. Match time is set for 12 p.m.
