POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Marist defeated Saint Peter's 6-1 in a MAAC men's tennis matchup on Sunday.
Marist opened up winning two of three doubles contests. In No. 1 doubles, the duo of Carlos Carrera (Quito, Ecuador / APCH) and Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia / [UMKC]) edged out the team if Justin Chanthalangsy and Matteo Giudici, 8-7. The Red Foxes won No. 2 doubles by the score of 8-0 and would win the final doubles contest by forfeit.
Carrera picked up the lone point for the Peacocks in the singles play with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Chanthalangsy.
In. No. 2 singles, Ivanov was defeated by Rudolf Kurz in three sets, 6-7, 7-5, 10-2. Joseph Dube defeated Oliver Bellomi (Nanaimo, Canada / Laurel Spring) in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Jonathan Paredes (North Bergen, N.J. / North Bergen) dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision against Julien Hochner in No. 4 singles. Marist won the final two singles contests by forfeit.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Apr. 17 on Senior Day against Quinnipiac. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
