Box Score 2 JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson swept Saint Peter's in a non-conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday. The Knights won the opener 13-6 and the second game 4-0.
Samantha Storms (Lake Geneva, Wis. / William Bay) paced the Peacocks (2-32) on the afternoon, going 6-for-7 with one RBI. Nicole Feoli (Burlington Twp, N.J. / Burlington) finished with four hits, one RBI and one run scored while Candice Koch tallied two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored in the doubleheader.
Madison Lerma powered the Knights (13-17) with four hits, six RBIs and four runs scored. Angelique Nieves recorded three hits and four runs scored in the sweep.
Fairleigh Dickinson scored seven runs in the eighth inning to earn the 13-6 victory.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first inning following an RBI-single to centerfield from Bryana Dorado.
Saint Peter's got back the run in the bottom of inning. Koch led off the inning with a double to left field. Following a groundout to advance Koch to third, Nicole Olmedo (Chino, Calif. / Chino) flew out to left field, advancing Koch home for the 1-1 tie.
The Peacocks added two runs in the second inning. With runners on second and third, Feoli singled up the middle to score Crystal Carlucci (Orland Park, Ill. / Carl Sandburg) and advance Francesca D'Amato (Lyndhurst, N.J. / Immaculate Conception) to third. Saint Peter's added the second run on the next at-bat when D'Amato stole home plate.
The Knights countered with two runs in the third, powered by a two-run homerun from Lerma to knot the contest at 3.
Fairleigh Dickinson took the lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Lerma singled to left field to score Nieves from third. Two batters later, Lopez hit a two-run single up the middle followed by another RBI single from Megan Reiner to give the Knights a 6-3 lead.
Saint Peter's picked up a run in the bottom of the inning, following a right field double from Storms to score Olmedo all the way from first base.
The Peacocks tied the game against at 6 with a two-run homerun from Koch.
Crystal Carlucci (Iselin, N.J. / John F. Kennedy Memorial) took the loss on the mound in the opener.
In the second game, Fairleigh Dickinson used a four-run third inning and strong pitching to win the contest 4-0.
Reiner limited the Peacocks to just four hits in the contest, pitching all seven innings and recording 14 strikeouts.
Alyssa Ruiz (Howell, N.J. / Howell) took the loss on the mound in the second game.
Saint Peter's returns to action this weekend with a pair of league doubleheaders at Canisius (Apr. 25) and Niagara (Apr. 26).
