Saint Peter's Track & Field Set For Final Tune Up At The Brick City Track & Field Classic On Sunday

opening stretch… The Saint Peter's track and field return to action for a final tune up at the Brick City Track & Field Classic on Sunday.

last time out… Saint Peter's last competed on Apr. 17 at the Wolfie Invitational. The Peacocks notched eight first place finishes at the event.

  • Michael Marcano notched a first-place nod in the 100-meter run with a 10.94-second performance.
  • Dexter Valley finished first in the 200-meter dash with an effort of 22.24 seconds.
  • In the 110-meter hurdles, Jamel Presley earned the first place honor with a time of 14.59 seconds. His performance was an IC4A/ECAC qualifying mark.
  • The tandem of Brandon Kelly, Marcano, Presley and Valley finished in first in the 4x100 relay with a 42.67 second performance. 
  • Jermaine Lascelles earned first places in the long and triple jump events.
  • Osafi Fordyce notched a first place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 13.24-meters.
  • Meredith Przybocki placed first overall in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.60-meters.

next time out… Saint Peter's returns to action on May 2-3 to compete in the 2015 Outdoor Championships.

ECAC/IC4A Outdoor qualifiers… Members of the Saint Peter's track and field team earned ECAC/IC4A Outdoor qualifying marks this season.

  • Jermaine Lascelles (400-meter)
  • Wellington Brown, Dexter Valley, Jamel Presley and Michael Marcano (4x100 relay)
  • Jamel Presley (110-meter hurdles)

ECAC/IC4A Indoor qualifiers… Five members of the team earned ECAC/IC4A Indoor qualifying marks this season.

  • Jermaine Lascelles (500-meter and High Jump)
  • Jamel Presley (60m Hurdles)
  • Wellington Brown (Long Jump)
  • Ieshawn Johnson (Weight Throw)
  • Alexandra Moffatt (Pole Vault)
  • Lance Weaver (800m)

maac honors… Nkeka Pinheiro and Alexandra Moffatt earned Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) indoor track and field honors for the week of Dec. 9-15.

  • Pinheiro was named MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week for her efforts at the Brother Jasper Invitational on Dec. 13. Pinheiro earned first-place honors in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.04. She also notched a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.84 seconds.
  • Moffatt earned MAAC Women's Field Performer of the Week for her record-breaking performance at the 6th Annual MAC Classic on Dec. 14. The sophomore broke a Saint Peter's record with her 3.60-meter (11' 9.75") effort in the pole vault. The record was previously held by Mary Krug, who vaulted 3.25 meters (10'8") in 2010. 

ecac honors… Nneka Pinheiro and Jermaine Lascelles earned Corvias Division I Metro/Upstate ECAC Player of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 9-14.  

  • Pinheiro earned first-place honors in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.04. She also notched a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash, recording a time of 7.84 seconds. 
  • Lascelles was tabbed ECAC Rookie of the Week for his performances at the Brother Jasper Invitational and the 6th Annual MAC Classic. Lascelles earned ECAC/IC4A qualifying marks in the high jump with a leap of 2.04-meters (6' 8.25"). He earned his second qualifying mark in the 500-meter dash.

outdoor preseason poll (men)… Monmouth was tabbed as preseason favorites to repeat as Men's Outdoor champions, earning 47 points. Manhattan was picked to finish second, totaling 42 points, followed by Rider (36), Iona (28), Saint Peter's (25), Canisius (11) and Marist (10) to round out the poll.

outdoor preseason poll (women)… Monmouth was chosen to repeat as Women's Outdoor champions, totaling 80 points. Coming in second was Rider with 72 points, followed by Quinnipiac (60), Manhattan (58), Iona (45), Saint Peer's (35), Marist (24), Canisius (11) and Niagara (10) to round out the poll.

about the coach… Head coach Mike Massone is in his eighth season as the men and women's track and field head coach.
