Saint Peter's Men's Golf Concludes Season With Final Round At NCAA New Haven Regional

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Eric Edmunds (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished 46th to lead Saint Peter's to a 14th-place standing at the NCAA New Haven Regionals on Saturday.

After posting a one-under par round of 69 in the second round, Edmunds shot a four-over par round of 74 in the final round to finish 46th with a three-round score of 219, 16 strokes behind the medalist. The senior birdied 11 and posted five bogeys on the afternoon.

Brian Grubbs (Cortez, Colo./Montezuma Cortez) shot a 77 in the final round to end with a three-round score of 230 in 71st place. The senior birdied 18 while posting six bogeys and a double bogey in the final round.

After shooting a pair of 75's in the first two rounds, Brandon Molson (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) carded an 81 in the final round to finish one stroke behind Grubbs in 72nd place. Molson had a birdie, three bogeys, two double bogeys and a triple bogey on the day.

Edmunds, Grubbs and Molson graduate after leading the Peacocks to back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) titles. Edmunds, who was named the Saint Peter's Athletics Student-Athlete of the Year, finished as the team's top golfer in both NCAA Regionals and finished in the Top-15 in all four of the MAAC Championships while Grubbs finished fifth and third in his last two MAAC Championships. Molson had his best finish at the league championship this season with an 11th-place finish.

Nicholas Dilio (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) posted a 79 on Saturday to finish with a three-round score of 232 in 73rd place. The junior registered five bogeys and two double bogeys on the afternoon.

Dominic Diaz (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) notched his best round of the regionals with a 76 to finish with a three-round score of 235 in 74th place. The sophomore had birdies on two and four and eight bogeys in the round.

South Florida won the regional with a score of 826, 14 strokes ahead of San Diego State (840) while Oklahoma State (842), Vanderbilt (844) and LSU (849) also advance to the NCAA Championships. The Peacocks posted rounds of 307, 294 and 306 to finish with a total of 907 in 14th place.

Saint Peter's was making its second appearance in the NCAA Regionals after winning the MAAC Men's Golf Championship on Apr. 26 for the second-straight year. Last year, the Peacocks participated in the NCAA Sugar Grove Regional and finished 14th with scores of 338, 324 and 328 for a three-round score of 990 on May 15-14. All five players are playing in their second NCAA Regional.
