Second-Half Goals By Fairlamb And Mobbs Propels Saint Peter's Men's Soccer Past Quinnipiac In MAAC Opener, 2-0

HAMDEN, Conn. – Luke Fairlamb (Northampton, England/Unity College) and Louis Mobbs (Hull, England/Sydney Smith) each found the back of the net to propel Saint Peter's past Quinnipiac 2-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's soccer action on Saturday.

Fairlamb, an All-MAAC Preseason selection, notched his second goal of the season in the league opener in the 68th minute while Mobbs posted a tally in the 75th minute for his fourth marker of the season after registering five goals in his first two seasons in Jersey City.

Jamie Cleland (Dunfermine, Scotland/Woodmill) made five saves for the Peacocks (4-3-1, 1-0-0 MAAC) in his second shutout of the season while Jack Fisher (Leeds, England/Heckmondwike Grammer School) dished out an assist on Mobbs' goal in the winning effort.

With the win, Saint Peter's starts league play with a victory for the first time since the 2002 season and the Peacocks recorded their first road win of the season after posting a 3-0-1 mark at Jaroschak Field. The squad will look to continue its unbeaten streak at home when it hosts Rider on Wednesday in the league homer opener for the Jersey City team.

Triston Henry made three saves for the Bobcats (0-6-1, 0-1-0 MAAC) while Stevenson Hawkey had a team-high three shots in the losing effort.

The two teams battled through a scoreless 67 minutes before Saint Peter's recorded a pair of goals in a span of seven minutes and 43 seconds to earn its first win against Quinnipiac since the Bobcats joined the league in 2013.

Fairlamb, who has two goals and five assists for nine points on the season, scored unassisted at 67:04 to give the Peacocks a 1-0 lead. Mobbs then took a feed from Fisher at 74:47 to seal the win when he found the twine for a 2-0 advantage.

After the Peacocks scored, Quinnipiac had four shots blocked by the Saint Peter's defense and Cleland made two stops to preserve the shutout.

The Peacocks return to action on Wednesday against the Broncs in an hOURglass Rivalry matchup. Game time is 3 p.m.
