Box Score LAWRENCEVILL, N.J. – Rider defeated Saint Peter's 8-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's soccer action on Wednesday.
Kelsey Nugent (Piscatway, N.J./Piscataway) paced the Peacocks (2-8-0, 0-3-0 MAAC) with four shots and Taylor McLean (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) made four saves in the loss.
Ellie Smith, Caroline Healy and Kourtney Cunningham each posted two goals and an assist to pace the Broncs (5-4-0, 2-1-0 MAAC) while Hollie Kelsh dished out four assists. Bethany-May Howard turned away eight shots in the winning effort.
Rider scored five times in the first half and three times in the second half en route to an 8-0 victory.
Smith got the scoring started when she found the back of the net off feeders from Kelsh and Healy at 3:26. Fifty-eight seconds later Healy increased the margin to two goals off helpers from Cunningham and Smith at the 4:24 mark.
After Smith notched her second tally of the night off an assist from Shannon Kelly at 21:54, Healy registered her second goal of the match off feeders from Priscilla Santos and Brianna Magana at 39:02 Meghan McCabe capped the first half with a tally off a pass from Kelsh for a 5-0 lead at the break.
Kelsh helped get the scoring started in the second half when she connected with Tara Ballay at 49:41 and then assisted Cunningham's first goal at 85:50 while Emily Schmitt had the helper on her second marker at 87:55 to seal the win.
Saint Peter's returns to action on Saturday at home against Marist. Match time is 12 p.m.
