Men's Soccer Clawed By The Panthers In Sunday Afternoon Match

Box Score

Saint Peter's (1-2-0) vs. Pittsburgh (3-0-1)

The Peacocks spent their Sunday afternoon down in Pittsburgh for an afternoon match against the Panthers. They would only surrender one goal in the match, but couldn't find the offensive firepower to bury a goal of their own. With this loss, it would be their second game in a row losing by only one goal, as they suffered an overtime loss to Robert Morris on Friday by a score of 2-1.

Three players were able to register shots on goal in the afternoon contest, however these attempts didn't have the ability to get past the goalkeeper. Luke Fairlamb was able to find two opportunities to try his luck, but the Panthers goalkeeper Dan Lynd was sharp in his performance stopping each one. Ezequiel Cei and Michael Crentsil were both able to put a shot on goal of their own, but would experience the same unsuccessful result.

For the Panthers, it was the freshman Matt Nozedar leading the team to victory with his one goal in the match. This would be his first goal of his collegiate career, and a valuable one at that. This goal, coming only two minutes into the match, would be the only goal scored for either side and would eventually lead to the Peacocks second loss of the 2015 season.

Head Coach Julian Richens and the Peacocks will head up to Binghamton for their next match, on September 9. The match will be at 7pm as SPU will try to bring their record back up to .500 and notch their second win of the season.
