Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Saint Peter's softball team closed the Amy S. Harrison Classic with an 11-1 loss to North Dakota in five innings on Sunday.
Jackie Riley (South Amboy, N.J./Cardinal McCarrick) posted a hit and an RBI for the Peacocks (0-4) and Nicole Feoli (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington) scored a run while Sophia Perez (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) and Alyssa Cuevas (Sylmar, Calif./Bishop Alemany) each added a hit in the loss.
Shelby Hard paced the Fighting Hawks (3-10) with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs while Taylor Hansen added three RBIs, a run scored and a hit in the winning effort.
Saint Peter's jumped out to a 1-0 lead before North Dakota scored the final 11 runs of the day to earn the victory in the final game for the Peacocks in Riverside, Calif.
Feoli and Perez each reached on an error to open the game before the duo moved up a base on a wild pitch. With one out, Riley plated Feoli on an RBI groundout to shortstop to give Saint Peter's a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first, the Fighting Hawks answered with four runs to take a 4-1 lead. Hard tied the game with an RBI double to right before Emily Bell gave North Dakota the lead for good on an RBI single up the middle. After an illegal pitch brought home the third run, Hansen was hit with a pitch with the bases loaded to force home another run.
The Fighting Hawks increased the advantage to 10-1 with six runs in the second. Kaylin VanDomelen started the rally with a solo homer to left before Savannah Furla walked with the bases loaded and Hansen hit a two-run single. Autumn Cervantez hit an RBI single to left and Nicole Babroswki hit into a run-scoring groundout.
Hard capped the 11-1 win with a solo homer to right center in the third.
Crystal Carlucci (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) took the loss for the Jersey City team.
Saint Peter's continues its West Coast swing with a doubleheader at Loyola Marymount on Tuesday. First pitch is 3 p.m.
