Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Loyola Marymount swept a non-conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday. The Lions won the opening game 8-0 in six innings and then took an 14-2 decision in five innings.
Harley Connors (Mason, Ohio/William Mason) paced the Peacocks (0-6) with two hits, including a two-run homer. Alyssa Cuevas (Sylmar, Calif./Bishop Alemany) and Nicole Feoli (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington) each added a hit on the afternoon.
Stephanie Crist powered the Lions (11-6) with three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs while Stephanie Maciel posted three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs and Hannah Montalban registered three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored on the day.
In the nightcap, Loyola Marymount scored the first nine runs of the game en route to a 14-2 victory.
Alicia Brown got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the first inning.
The Lions added seven runs in the second to take a 9-0 advantage. Maciel started the rally with an RBI single before Brown hit a two-run double and a third run came around to score on an error. Shainne Ybarra doubled home a run before Amanda Dirks smacked a two-run single to right center to cap the inning.
Candice Koch (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) walked to open the third and came around to score on Connors first collegiate home run to trim the margin to 9-2. The freshman's homer was the only hit in the game for the Peacocks.
Loyola Marymount tacked on five runs in the third to seal the 14-2 win. Maciel doubled home a run before Ybarra added an RBI single to left. Dirks plated two runs on a double to left center and Montalban hit a sacrifice fly.
Noea Pizana (Royse City, Texas/Royse City) took the loss in the nightcap for the Jersey City team.
In the opener, the Lions scored three in the first, a run in the second, three in the third and then ended the game with the eighth run in the sixth.
Loyola Marymount scored its first run of the game on an error before Brown doubled home a run and Crist had an RBI groundout for a 3-0 edge after one inning.
Ybarra added a sacrifice fly in the second before the Lions posted three runs in the third to increase the margin to 7-0 after Loyola Marymount scored the first run of the frame on an error and then Montalban hit a two-run double.
Crist then hit a walk-off homer for the eighth run of the game in the sixth.
Sydney Ramsey (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) took the loss for Saint Peter's in the opener.
The Peacocks return to action at the ShareSLO Mustang Classic against Weber State on Friday at 1 p.m. and Toledo at 3:30 p.m.
