Saint Peter's Baseball Drops Final Game At Wake Forest Tournament To Harvard

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Harvard defeated Saint Peter's 7-1 in non-conference baseball action on Saturday.

Jon Kristoffersen (Jefferson, N.J./Jefferson Township), who had three hits on Friday including two homeruns, paced the Peacocks (1-6) with a hit and an RBI while Mike Ionta (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) posted a hit and a run scored in the loss. The duo had back-to-back doubles in the sixth to account for the run.

John Fallon paced the Crimson (1-1) with a two-run homer while Mitch Klug posted two hits, two runs scored and an RBI in the winning effort.

Harvard scored the first five runs of the game and went on for the 7-1 victory in its second game of the season. Saint Peter's ended the Wake Forest Tournament with three losses.

Fallon got the scoring started with a two-run homer in the first to give the Crimson a 2-0 edge.

Harvard added three runs in the third. Patrick McColl and Klug each scored on an error before DJ Link hit an RBI single to left to increase the advantage to 5-0.

The Peacocks got a run back in the sixth. Ionta doubled to right center and then Kristoffersen followed with an RBI double to left center to trim the margin to 5-1.

Klug homered in the seventh and Devan Petersen sealed the victory with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

John Leiter (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) took the loss for Saint Peter's.

The Peacocks return to action at Stony Brook on Friday. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
