JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Saint Peter's won seven of the nine matches to defeat Rider 6-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's tennis action on Saturday.
Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia/UMKC) and Jorge Rodriguez (Havana, Cuba/Elizabeth) defeated Diego Delgato and Matt Begley 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and Gabe Russotto (Bayonne, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) and Cuong Lam (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/New Dorp) took down Jeremy Van Herde and Ryan Ciaccio at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
Ivanov defeated Delgato at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-0 and Rodriguez downed Chris Popso at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-2. Jonathan Paredes (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) took the No. 3 singles match over Begley 6-3, 6-4 and Russotto defeated Van Herde 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-2 while Douglas Nover (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) downed Brandon Gikdea 6-2, 6-3.
Ciaccio earned the Broncs lone point on the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Lam at No. 6 singles. Popso and Gikdea teamed up to beat Parades and Nover at No. 2 doubles 6-2, but the Peacocks won the other two doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
Saint Peter's returns to action at Fairfield on Sunday. Match time is 12 p.m.
