JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Monmouth defeated Saint Peter's 7-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's tennis action on Saturday.
The Hawks swept the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Przemyslaw Filipek and Nicola Pipoli defeated Andres-Sebastian Rojas (Quinto, Ecuador/Centebad) and Gabe Russotto (Bayonne, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) at No. 1 doubles, 6-2. Jonathan Paredes (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) and Douglas Nover (Bayside, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) fell to Vidit Vaghela and Ale Gomez Estrada at No. 2 doubles 6-1 while Cuong Lam (Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam/New Dorp) and Justin Sinprasith (Jersey City, N.J./County Prep) dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 3 doubles by the score of 6-1 to Christian Vieira and Alberto Giuffrida.
Vaghela defeated Paredes at No.1 singles 6-0, 6-0 and Filipek downed Rojas 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Russotto fell to Estrada 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Nover lost 6-3, 6-1 to Vieira at No. 4 singles. Lam dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 5 singles to Giuffrida and Sinprasith lost to Richard Chen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Saint Peter's concludes the season at home against Siena on Sunday. Match time is 11 a.m. Prior to the start of the match the Peacocks will honor senior Daniil Ivanov (Rostov-On-Don, Russia/UMKC).
