Box Score JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's Peacocks opened their conference schedule with a loss against Fairfield, losing 0-3 on Saturday, Sep. 17th in the Yanitelli Center. Saint Peter's fall to 0-6 overall and 0-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.
The Peacocks were led by Amanda Colombo with 9 kills and 13 digs, along with Marlena Budna's 8 kills, while Carolina Ruiz posted 10 digs.
The Stags swept the the match by a score of (25-10, 26-24, 25-19). Posting a double-double, was team leader, Megan Theiler with 18 kills and and 11 digs, following was Sydney Williams with 10 kills.
The best action of the day came in the second set as the Peacocks played tough, keeping the entire set an equal rally. Late in the set, the Peacocks tied with the Stags at 24-24, but Fairfield would hold on for the win, scoring two consecutive kills by Sydney Williams and Kaitlyn Fisher winning 26-24.
The Peacocks will be back on the court tomorrow for their second conference game, hosting Quinnipiac at 1pm in the Yanitelli Center.
