JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned home for the first time in 2017, hosting a tri meet against Monmouth and LIU Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. The men's squad defeated Monmouth, 163-97, earning their second consecutive win, and third overall of the season. The women's team fell to Monmouth, 185.5-54.5 and to LIU Brooklyn, 182-49.
"The men's team won a decisive victory against Monmouth, having the top finisher in each of the 16 events," stated head coach Mark Kretzer. "Seniors Eliran Epstein, and Igal Oren earned 4 of 4 first place finishes, while Seniors Daniel Gayetsky and Nicholas Riepe dominated in their events as well."
"On the woman's side, Junior captain Karen Castaneda continues to anchor the team while leading the woman's team in total points in every competition so far this season, added Kretzer. "Several others on the woman's side posted season best performances. The team had this competition circled on the calendar all season and really wanted to reach new heights, which from that standpoint was a huge success.
The team returns to the pool tomorrow, January 22nd for their final home meet of 2017 against Bridgeport at 1p.m.
