Day One at the Golf Metroploitan Intercolleigiate

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's golf team finished the first day of the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Invitational tied for eighth place with final round of 305 (+25). Jose Cardona and Mike Winter led the Peacocks tying in 10th place, with a card of 74 (+4) each.

"The conditions made the course play tough," said head coach Nick Dilio. "It was very windy which made it difficult to get the ball close. Overall we are still on the golf tournament. If we can get a few low rounds in tomorrow we should be near the lead."

Stanley Garrant followed the duo, shooting a 78 (+8), Michael Stewart carded a 79 (+9) and Jeffrey Peters posted an 82 (+12).

Central Connecticut finished the first day in the lead with a score of 293 (+13). Fairleigh Dickinson finished in second place with a score of 299 (+19).

Manhattan leads MAAC teams in the field, finishing in third with a round of 300 (+20) while Monmouth finished the day in fifth with a 303 (+23). Fairfield finished two strokes behind the Peacocks with a 307 (+27) and Iona finished the round in last place shooting a 309 (+29).

The Peacocks will wrap up the tournament tomorrow at the Montclair Golf Club. Tee off for the Peacocks will start at 10am.
