Bowling Competes in the Golden Bear Classic

The Saint Peter's women's bowling will compete in the Golden Bear Classic, hosted by Kutztown university at Berks Lanes in Reading, PA. The competition is scheduled to start at 11:00am.


Last Year at the Golden Bear Classic 

The Peacocks defeated New Jersey City University on February 12, 2016 4-3 in baker bracket play. On the second day of competition Saint Peter's avenged a loss to Mount Aloysius with a 4-2 win in the second match of the afternoon before falling 4-1 to seventh place, Franklin Pierce. The Peacocks  ended the competitions in eight place. 

Last Time Out

Saint Peter's women's bowling placed 11th in the Red Flash Invitational on January 29. Lidia DeSapio finished in 11th place overall in the individual standings with a total of 953 pins averaging 190.80. During the baker matchups the Peacocks scored (757, 709, 880, 830, 852) and totaled 4,028 pins. As a team Saint Peter's placed 11th overall totaling 138,323 pins averaging 162.7 pins per match. In the finals bracket matchups the Peacocks defeated Pitt Bradford 1,183-1,129 and lost to Kutztown 1,289-1,170.

New to the Flock

Returners will welcome three freshmen, Gabrielle Morales from Newark, NJ, Vicky Spirio from Long Branch, NJ, and Nicolle Wetzel from Brick, NJ.


Next Up

The Peacocks will head back on the road to compete in the Golden Bear Classic at Bowl-O-Rama in Reading,PA on February 10.


About the coach

Jennifer Houseward begins her second season at Saint Peter's as the women's bowling head coach. Houseward served as an assistant coach for the bowling program in 2013-14 after a successful four-year bowling career at Saint Peter's. Houseward graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. She helped the Saint Peter's bowling squad to first-place standing at the Beach Open Tournament in North Carolina in 2009 and to the team's first winning season in program history with a 61-51 mark in her freshman campaign. She has helped Saint Peter's to a second-place finish at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Bowling Invitational in 2010 and the Peacocks reached its highest national ranking in team history after ranking 17th in the country in December of 2011.
