JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's University men's tennis team (1-6, 0-1) will take the short trip on Friday night to the New Shrewsbury Racquet Club in Tinton Falls, NJ, to play defending MAAC regular season and conference tournament champions, Monmouth University at 8:30pm. Points for the hOURglass rivalry standings are also on the line between the conferences foes located in New Jersey.
Last Time Out - The men's team fell to the Loyola University (MD) Greyhounds, 7-0 on February 11. Saint Peter's lost all three doubles matches. Jorge Rodriguez fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, Andres-Sebastian Rojas lost 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, Douglas Nover squandered a close two-setter 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, Gabriel Russotto was defeated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Cuong Lam left the court with a 6-1, 6-0 loss at No. 5 singles, and Jonathan Paredes surrendered a 6-0, 6-2 loss at No. 6 singles.
Scouting - The Hawks of Monmouth enter the match with a 1-6 record. This is their first conference match of the year while this will be Saint Peter's second conference match of the year. Monmouth University's No. 1 singles, Nicola Pipoli, is currently ranked in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Rankings at 99th. This is Monmouth's first ever player to earn a national ranking.
History - Monmouth recently joined the MAAC during the 2013-14 season. Saint Peter's is winless against Monmouth during conference matches. The last time the men's team won was on February 12, 2012 by a score of 6-1.
