MALVERN, PA - The Saint Peter's golf team, totaled a final score of (309,+25) in the first day of the Wildcat Invitational
Mike Winters and Dominic Diaz led the Peacocks T57 with a score of (76,+5), Ryan Rodriguez followed with a score of (77, +6) while Danny Lapp posted (80, +9) and Jose Cardona posted a score of (83,+12).
"Overall I think we hung in there as a team," said head coach Nick Dilio. "I think if we can make a few less mistakes and make a couple more birdies we will be able to pass a lot of teams tomorrow."
The Peacocks will continue to compete tomorrow (March 28) at the White Manor Country Club.
about the team… The Saint Peter's Men's Golf team hold two reigning MAAC golf Championships in 2014 and 2015 under the direction of Peter Falloon. The team boast a young team with four freshman, two sophomores, and one senior. Captain for the Peacocks, is senior Dominic Diaz.
about the coach… Head Coach Nick Dilio is a three-time NCAA qualifier, claiming the 2016 MAAC individual title. In the process of his collegiate career, he participated in the NCAA Regional action three consecutive years. As a junior he was a MAAC Runner-up and registered four top-15-and three-top-10 showings at the MAAC Championships. Dilio also made an appearance in the Porter Cup which is one of the top amature tournaments in the world. In previous years the Porter Cup hosted golf legends Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Ben Crenshaw, and Hal Sutton.
Director for the Men's Golf team is previous head coach, Peter Falloon. During his time as the head coach, he led the Peacocks to two consecutive MAAC Championships in 2014 and 2015. Falloon led Saint Peters in the NCAA Sugar Grove Regional in 2014 and the NCAA New Haven Regional in 2015. Three out of four years Falloon was named MAAC Coach of the year. Falloon was part of the undefeated golf team in 1964 and was selected as
student-athlete of the year in 1965. He is now a member of the Saint Peter's Athletic Hall of Fame.
