Opening Word
The Saint Peter's men's and women's track and field teams will open up the outdoor season in the Wagner Invitational at the Hameline Field in Staten Island, NY. The meet is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.

MAAC Preseason Polls
The Saint Peter's men's outdoor track and field team was selected eighth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) coaches' preseason poll, and the women's outdoor track and field team was voted tenth in the MAAC coaches' preseason poll. The men's team received 14 votes and the women's team earned 18 votes in their respective poll.

Meet the Coach
John Marshall will begin his first season at the helm of the Saint Peter's University Track and Field team. The Plainfield, NJ naive spent nearly 20 years as a head and an assistant coach at Villanova, Ursinus College, Seton Hall, and Montclair State. He coached the 1994 Women's Cross Country team and individual national champions while at Villanova and was subsequently honored as the 1994 NCAA Coach of the Year. Marshall has coached 12 NCAA individual champions and over 40 All-Americans. He has won two Big East team championships, and has coached 93 Big East individual champions, 18 IC4A individual champions, 10 ECAC individual champions, and one Rhodes Scholar.

Marshall last served as an assistant coach at Montclair State from 2010-2011. Prior to Montclair State, Marshall was an assistant at Seton Hall from 2002-2010. Marshall got his start in collegiate coaching in 1992 as an assistant at his alma mater, Villanova. In 1994 Marshall elevated to head coach in 1994-1998. Following his departure from Villanova, Marshall served as the head track and field coach and personal trainer at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA from 1998-2001. During his collegiate career he won an NCAA individual title in the 800-meter during the 1983 indoor championships and was named an All-American six times in the 800 and 4x400 relay team.

In 1984, Marshall was a member of Team USA at the Los Angeles Summer Olympics. There, Marshall made it to the quarterfinals in the Men's 800-meters. He was also a silver medalist in the USA Championships and a bronze medalist at the World University Games in 1985.
