JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Saint Peter's men's and women's tennis teams both fell to Siena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Sunday. The men's team lost a close, 4-3 decision, while the women's team was swept, 7-0. John Oxner continued his hot streak, winning his fourth consecutive singles match dating back to Fordham on March 18. During the streak, Oxner has wins over Fordham, Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Siena.
Men's Results - John Oxner won his match in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4 over Mohammad Sowani, Ignacio Tintore claimed a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 4 over Alessandra Saglia and Igor Khvorostian took No. 5 singles over Cameron Kirkwood, 6-3, 6-0. In doubles, the Peacocks dropped the tandem point but earned a victory in first doubles with the duo of Piotr Sowinski and Tintore grabbing a 6-4 win over Guille Lopez-Torres and Saglia.
The Peacocks held a 3-1 lead over Siena after dropping the doubles point, but winning courts 3-5 in singles. Siena managed to win the final three matches at No.1, 2, at 6 singles to claim the 4-3 comeback win over the Peacocks.
Women's Results - In doubles, Siena earned identical 6-0 wins in all three matches. In singles, No. 2 Azuri Hughes had the best outing for the Peacocks, falling 6-0, 6-2 to Nanea Perkins. No. 5 Jennifer Guilherme, dropped her match, 6-1, 6-1 to Juliana Goehner. Courts 1, 3, and 4 of Stephanie Falcon, Aidah Muhammad, and Marta Ortega each fell 6-0, 6-1.
