JERSEY CITY, N.J. – After leading the Saint Peter's University men's golf team through a strong opening month of the 2019-20 campaign, senior captain Stanley Garrant has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Golfer of the Month for September, as announced by the league Wednesday.
Garrant, who played in all four rounds possible during a month that featured two different tournaments, was statistically the top golfer on a team that took a tournament title and placed in the top-five at another.
The Poughkeepsie, New York, native averaged a team-low 70.50 strokes per round for the month on the way to winning the Monmouth Fall Invitational's medalist honor. His two-under 69 in the round round at that tournament was tied for the second-lowest par score for the month; he also shot two-under 68 in the third round of The Doc Grimmler to earn a 17th-place finish at the first tournament of the season.
In total, three of Garrant's four rounds played were either at or under par for the month of September.
Garrant and the rest of the Peacocks return to action this coming Sunday and Monday (Oct. 6-7) when they head to Apalachin, New York, to compete in the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational hosted by Binghamton.
