How It Happened
- Four out of the five Saint Peter's golfers shot scores in the 70s during Sunday's opening round led by junior Jeffrey Peters, who finished one-under 71 while finishing in a tie for seventh place at the end of 18 holes.
- Sophomore Melvin Morales was next on the ledger, two strokes behind Peters' pace at one-over 73; that score was good for a 15th-place tie in the individual leader board.
- Senior captain Stanley Garrant shot a three-over 75 to place just inside the top-30, while redshirt freshman Jimmy Apostolico had the fourth-best score for the SPU contingent, shooting a five-over 77 ranking tied for 45th.
- Senior captain David Powers carded an eight-over 80, as well.
- The Peacocks, as a team, found themselves just strokes back of tournament leader Canisius heading into Monday's final round.Â
