Softball Splits Double Header with Howard

The Peacocks won game two against Howard 7-3, after dropping the first game 5-3

WASHINGTON D.C - The Saint Peter's softball team split Tuesday's doubleheader with Howard on the road. The Peacocks earned their third win of the season, defeating Howard 7-3 in the second contest following a 5-3 defeat in game one. 

Game1:
  • The Peacocks started the game off strong beginning with an Alina Guevara double, to bring in two runs and go up 2-0.
  • In the second inning Taylor White singled bringing in another run for the Peacocks, leading 3-0. 
  • Howard was able to tie the game up 3-3 with three runs in the third inning. 
  • In the fourth inning, the Bison's scored two more runs taking the lead 5-3.
  • Both teams were unable to score for the remainder of the game, leaving the Peacocks behind 5-3 in the first game. 
  • Barbara Verrastro had a team high of two hits in the first game. 
  • Sydney Ramsey pitched the whole game and notched two strikeouts against Howard. 
Game 2:
  • Both teams went scoreless in the first inning. 
  • Howard scored the first run of the game in the second inning, taking the lead 1-0. 
  • In the second inning, Theamaris Ramirez hit her first homerun of the season, tying the game 1-1. 
  • In the fifth inning, Marissa Morales doubled, bringing in another run, and the Peacocks took the 2-1 lead.
  • Later in the fifth inning, Alyssa Adams stole second while Marissa Morales stole home, bringing in the third run of the game for the Peacocks. 
  • In the sixth inning, Alyssa Mido grounded out to shortstop bringing in another run for the Peacocks, still leading 4-1. 
  • In the same inning, Barbara Verrastro hit an RBI to give the Peacocks a four run lead, 5-1. 
  • The Bison's attempt to come back started with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, 5-3. 
  • In the seventh inning, Taylor White and Harley Connors each had an RBI to close out the game 7-3.
  • Sydney Senerchia was just shy of her career high in strikeouts, finishing with six against the Bison. 
  • Theamaris Ramirez led the team at the plate, finishing with two hits.

Up Next:
●     The Peacocks travel to College Park for the Maryland Invitational this weekend.
