Softball Falls in Doubleheader at Hartford on Tuesday Afternoon

The Peacocks lost both games against Hartford.

WEST HARDFORD, CT - The Saint Peter's softball team lost both games in the doubleheader against Hartford. The team lost 17-7 in the first game before falling 8-5 in the second game.

Game Notes vs. Hartford:
Game 1:
  • In the first inning, Theamaris Ramirez singled to right field bringing in an RBI to score the first run for the Peacocks.
  • Katie Sciglimpaglia reached on an error to second base allowing Barbara Verrastro to score the second run for the Peacocks in the first inning, leading 2-0.
  • In the bottom of the second inning, Hartford came back with three runs to take the lead 3-2.
  • Marissa Morales hit her first career homerun, a 3-run shot to left field to take the lead back at 5-3.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Hartford responded scoring four runs, to go ahead 7-5.
  • Ramirez hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning to bring the Peacocks to within one run, trailing 7-6.
  • Alina Guevara walked in the sixth inning with the bases loaded bringing in Tiffani Lambert, and the Peacocks were down 9-7.
  • Hartford totaled 10 runs in the last two innings to win the game 17-7.
  • Ramirez had a season-high three hits against Hartford.
  • Barbara Verrastro pitched four inning while earning three strikeouts.
Game 2:
  • Hartford got on the board first in game two, with a homerun in the second for the first two runs of the game (2-0).
  • In the third inning, Harley Connors tripled to right center field for two RBIs to tie the game at 2-2.
  • Alina Guevera singled through the left side allowing Connors to score, taking the 3-2 lead.
  • Theamaris Ramirez hit her second homerun of the day giving the Peacocks two more runs to add to the lead, 5-2.
  • Hartford scored one run in the third inning and another one in the fourth, shortening the Peacocks lead to 5-4.
  • The Hawks scored an additional two runs in the fifth inning to regain the lead, 6-5.
  • In the final inning, Hartford scored two more runs to conclude the game, winning 8-5.
  • Ramirez had a team high three hits, totaling six hits for the day in Connecticut.
  • Sydney Senerchia pitched the whole game finishing with seven strikeouts against the Hawks.
