Softballs Beats Canisius in Second Game of Doubleheader

BUFFALO, NY - The Saint Peter's softball team split the day's doubleheader at Canisius. The Peacocks lost the first game 4-1 and bounced back in the second game to earn the 7-4 win.  
 
Game Notes vs. Canisius:
Game 1:

• In the first inning, the Golden Griffins took the lead early, hitting a home run that scored two runs.
• In the fourth inning, Canisius scored another run after a hit up the middle bringing in the run.
• In the following inning, the Golden Griffins reached on a fielder's choice to score their fourth run against the Peacocks.  
• Theamaris Ramirez singled through the left side bringing in Harley Connors to score the teams first run in the final inning, as the Peacocks fell to Canisius 4-1. 
• Ramirez led the Peacocks in hits, finishing with two against the Golden Griffins.
• Sydney Senerchia pitched a complete game, earning two strikeouts.

Game 2:

• In the first inning, Alina Guevara singled to center field bringing in a run to put Saint Peter's up 1-0.
• The next batter, Theamaris Ramirez, homered to left field for a two-run shot, pushing the lead to 3-0.
• In the second inning, Canisius scored its first run after singling to center field.
• Later in that inning, Canisius scored two more runs tying up the game at 3-3. 
• In the third inning, Georgia Verrastro hit a three-run home run with Alyssa Mido and Tiffani Lambert on to take the lead back at 6-3.
• During the fifth inning, Barbara Verrastro doubled to center field bringing in the seventh run for the Peacocks, extending the lead to 7-3.
• In the last inning, Canisius scored only one run giving the Peacocks the win at 7-4. 
• Katie Sciglimpaglia had a team-high three hits against the Golden Griffins in the contest. 
• Taylor Lewis pitched five innings earning her second win of the season.
