JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Chas Sarlund, who boasts over 20 years as a head golf professional, has been named the head coach of the Saint Peter's University men's golf program.
Sarlund will take over the reigns for the three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champions, which begin play this weekend at the St. John's Invitational at Bethpage Red on Long Island.
"I am so grateful, humbled and honored to have the privilege to coach the Saint Peter's men's golf team and be part of the Jesuit community here at this prestigious University," stated Sarlund. "There already is such a strong foundation in place with this program and I look forward to helping to build on that alongside a hard-working and dedicated group of student-athletes."
A PGA member since 1995, Sarlund has managed exceptional golf experiences at golf clubs in both New Jersey and Michigan over the last 22 years. He has established successful coaching and instructional programs designed to turn junior golfers into future leaders. He has also served as the host professional at USGA, AJGA, NJPGA, NJSGA, MGA and Ivy League Tournaments.
Most recently, Sarlund serves as the Director of Golf Operations at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Branchburg, New Jersey. Among his chief responsibilities, he manages an 18-hole, semi-private club while reporting directly to ownership, overseeing all teaching and coaching programs, memberships, golf outings and personnel. He also is responsible for marketing and promotions, as well as the club's operating budgets.
Sarlund has enjoyed prior stints as the head golf professional at three different venues prior to Fox Hollow. He spent nearly six years at Royce Brook Golf Club in Hillsborough, New Jersey, which followed a nearly decade-long tenure in the same role at Fiddler's Elbow Country Club (Far Hills, N.J.). Finally, before his nearly two-decade run in the Garden State began, his first head golf professional post was at Partridge Creek Golf Club in Michigan, lasting just over five years.
In addition to his PGA membership, Sarlund is a Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America and a past president of the Southern Chapter and past Board of Director for the Michigan PGA. He is the founder of the Professional Golf Management Open, an annual tournament based in Orlando, Florida, held during the week of the PGA Show for graduates and current students.
Sarlund currently resides in New Providence, New Jersey, with his wife, Susie, children, Meghan and Charlie, and their dog, Bogey.
