DEAL, N.J. – Backed by a pair of tournament medalists in senior captain Stanley Garrant and sophomore Melvin Morales, the Saint Peter's University men's golf team earned its first team tournament title of the young season in impressive fashion on Thursday, claiming the 2019 Monmouth Fall Invitational by seven strokes.Â

Player Notes
- Three of the tournament's top-10 finishers boasted a Saint Peter's uniform on Thursday, with Garrant and Morales leading the charge. For Garrant, the performance was particularly impressive considering his red-hot finish to the Doc Grimmler tournament two weekends prior.
- The senior captain birdied four times on the front nine and twice more on the back half while bogeying just once over the final nine holes to earn the medalist honor with a two-under 69 score. That one-under back-nine score wound up being the difference in the tiebreaker to earn the tournament's individual title.
- Morales shot a new season-low with a two-under 69 that earned him co-medalist recognition. He finished with four birdies on the afternoon with only two bogeys.
- Junior Jeffrey Peters was next on the SPU ledger, tying for sixth on the leader board after shooting two-over 73 for the afternoon. He birdied twice on the front nine to earn his first top-10 tournament finish of the fall.
- Senior captain David Powers and redshirt freshman Caleb Rossi rounded out the Saint Peter's contingent by tying for 13th with a five-over 76 ledger. The latter had three birdies on the day, while the former finished the back nine with a birdie and four pars.Â
- Another redshirt freshman Jimmy Apostolico, competed as an individual and shot one-under 70 (34-36--70).
