EDISON, N.J. – Seven members of the Saint Peter's University indoor track and field teams were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team, which was unveiled by the conference office Friday morning.
Among the 240 student-athletes from across the conference who were recognized, the Peacocks boasted three representatives on the men's all-academic compilation, as well as four honorees on the women's side, as well.
Earning all-academic distinction for the Peacock men were: senior hurdler
Joshua Okaro (finance major), junior javelin thrower
Daniel Lodato (criminal justice major) and sophomore jumper/sprinter
Daniel Jn-Baptiste (computer science major).
The women's all-academic honorees included junior sprinter/mid-distance runner
Lovely Francois (sport management major), junior mid-distance runner
Grace Proctor (health physical education major), sophomore mid-distance runner
Maleny Cajamarca (accounting major) and sophomore jumper
Iria Paz (pre-elementary education major).
In order to be eligible for a MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at his/her institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The track and field teams are set to compete at the 2020 MAAC Indoor Championships at The Armory this weekend (Feb. 22-23).
