Baseball Falls at Murray State on Friday

Peacocks drop the first of four, 12-0

MURRAY, KY – The Saint Peter's baseball team dropped the first game of a four-set series to Murray State on Friday, falling 12-0.
 
How it Happened
  • Murray St. scored two runs in the opening inning, to grab an early 2-0 lead over the Peacocks.
  • Both teams went scoreless in the second, but Murray St. added five more runs in the third to extend its advantage to 7-0.
  • The same results occurred in inning four as two, where neither side crossed home plate, but again in the fifth, the Racers added four more runs to make the lead grow to 11-0 over the Peacocks.
  • Saint Peter's would produce its best defensive inning in the six, only allowing one baserunner and not giving up a hit. 
  • The seventh frame would also see the Peacocks record a hitless inning defensively. 
  • An additional run for Murray St. in the eighth would give the final score of 12-0.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Leadoff hitter, Nick Schibba was the lone Peacock with multiple hits in the game, putting two hits in play, with one being a double. 
  • Hits were also recorded by Hunter Mason, John Gavura, Trent Koerner.
