Dear Softball,
You are the last thing that I thought I would fall in love with. I was a baseball player! I'll never forget the first time you showed me how a seven-run lead means nothing if you can't field the bunt. You have been taken away from me and so many others who love you right now. Don't worry, we are working to make you proud. Every chance we get, we are getting ready for the next chance we have to get out there and give back a little bit of what you have given us.
We look forward to the moments you lift us up and the moments you teach us how much we can endure by breaking our hearts. As a game of failure, you give us the opportunity to grow and get better every day. Don't worry, we haven't stopped growing in your absence. We have new challenges, but it's the lessons you've taught us on that field that give us the strength to keep moving forward.
We will see you in September and we will be stronger, better and never forget how bad it hurt when you were taken away. We are lucky to have you in our lives. Sometimes, it's in a moment of absence that we can really appreciate that.
