JERSEY CITY, NJ - A men's golfer and a women's track and field runner have been named Saint Peter's University Athletics Peacocks of the Month for April, as senior Melvin Morales and freshman Diamond McLaughlin have earned the eighth monthly Peacock award for the 2021-2022 academic year.
Morales capped off a solid April showing with a tie for 15th place finish at the MAAC Championships in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The senior from Humacao, Puerto Rico shot a -2 70 in the second round of the tournament. McLaughlin continues to have a solid freshman campaign on the track for the Peacocks. She was named the MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week on April 26 after capturing three gold medals at the Jersey Relays, highlighted by a time of 1:01.93 in the 400 hurdles. The Galloway, New Jersey native finished with a gold medal in the 400 Hurdles at the METS. Her time of 1:02.82 was not only good enough for first place, but is also an IC4A/ECAC qualifying mark in the event.Â
