Pine Bluff, AR - Saint Peter's Softball opened it's 2023 campaign on the road against the University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff. Game one ended in a loss by a score of 3-0, but the offense came alive in game two scoring 13 runs behind freshman pitcher Sydney Palmer.

Forte and Sciglimpaglia got on base to start off the game and Sophie Wilson delivered a 2-out RBI single.

The Peacocks struck again in the third inning with a leadoff home run by Jess Forte, then McNulty and Pitts reached base safely and were driven in by Maiah Skakal's 2-out, 2 RBI double.

The Peacocks tacked on in the 5th with walks drawn by McNulty and Skakal, then a hit by Pitts led to a 2-RBI single by Turner, then back-to-back pinch-hit RBI hits by Brandi Feeney and Sam Miller.

After giving up two runs in the 5th, the Peacocks came right back with a Home Run by Cara McNulty, followed by back-to-back hits by Pitts and Wilson. They then both scored on a fielder's choice by Tai Turner.

"It was great to see the bats come to live in game two. We got quality pitching in both games and played solid defense. This is an extremely resilient group, we had a 2 hour delay on our flight last night and got in early this morning. These ladies just need to be pointed in the direction of the field and have us coaches get out of their way. We are excited the season is finally here…we wait all year for this, its like Christmas morning for about 3 months! We are looking forward to some more competitive softball tomorrow!"
