DOVER, DE. - The Saint Peter's Softball team swept its doubleheader at Delaware State on Monday. The Peacocks improved to 6-5 on the season.

Game One - Saint Peter's - 1 | Delaware State - 0
The Peacocks took the first game of Monday's doubleheader 1-0. Saint Peter's freshman Angelina Wagner pitched a complete game shutout and struck out five batters. SPU scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Jess Forte hit a double to left field, followed by an RBI single to center field from Maiah Skakal.
Game Two - Saint Peter's - 8 | Delaware State - 5
In the second game of Monday's doubleheader, the Peacocks tallied 16 hits. At the plate, Sydney Orndorff went 3-5 with one RBI and scored two runs. Taylor Montgomery went 2-4 with two RBIs and scored one run.
Saint Peter's put up five runs in the top of the first inning. Sydney Orndorff hit a double to second base. Taylor Montgomery gave the Peacocks a 2-0 lead after she hit her first career home run. Cara McNulty got on base after she was hit by a pitch. Dakota Pitts scored McNulty on an RBI double to right field. Skakal hit an RBI single to left field, which scored Pitts and Zailees Seda brought Skakal to home plate with an RBI single, and the Peacocks led 5-0.
The Hornets battled back and tied the game at 5-5 after DSU's Emma Crowe hit an RBI single to right field. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Orndorff hit a single, stole second base, and advanced to third. A sacrifice fly from McNulty broke the tie and put the Peacocks up 6-5. In the bottom of the fifth inning, SPU tacked on two more runs. Skakal scored from third on a fielder's choice, and Orndorff delivered an RBI single, which scored Kayla Talbert for SPU's eighth run of the game.
The Hornets grounded out for the final out in the bottom of the seventh. This secured the series sweep for the Peacocks.
Next, the Peacocks travel to Maryland (6-12) on Wednesday, Mar. 6. The game begins at 6PM.
