JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Softball team continued conference play at Jaroschak Field on Tuesday. The Peacocks dropped their doubleheader against the Quinnipiac Bobcats (12-13, 3-5 MAAC).

- The opening game of this week's series between SPU and QU went into extra innings. Cara McNulty and Jess Forte each hit one home run in the game.Â

McNulty went 2-2 with a home run and two RBIs.Â

The Bobcats tallied 15 hits in the game. The Peacocks recorded 11 hits.Â

Quinnipiac scored its first run on an error and added two runs in the top of the fourth inning.Â

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Peacocks tied the contest at 3-3. Sydney Orndorff got on base with a single, and McNulty hit her seventh home run of the year past center field which cut the deficit to 3-2. Dakota Pitts hit a single to right field andÂ

Maiah Skakal tied the game with a RBI double. Isabella Chugranis pinch-ran for Pitts and scored the SPU's third run.Â

The Bobcats added a run on an RBI single from Mary Fogg and took a 4-3 advantage in the top of the seventh.Â

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Angelina Wagner started the inning off with a double to left field. SPU freshman Olivia Christopher advanced Wagner to third base on a single to right field. Sydney Orndorff reached first base on an error and Wagner tied the game up at 4-4.Â

In extra innings, the Bobcats took a 5-4 lead in the top of the tenth inning. In the bottom of the tenth down to her final strike, Jess Forte tied the game up at 5-5 with her seventh home run of the year over center field.Â

Quinnipiac's Natalia Apatiga hit a two-run home run in the top of the 13th inning, and the Bobcats took game one 7-5.Â

McNulty hit a two-RBI double in the bottom of the second inning and tied the game at 2-2.

Quinnipiac scored nine unanswered which included four runs in the top of the fifth inning.Â

Saint Peter's freshman Carlee Charles notched her first career hit in the bottom of the fifth inning.Â

QU pitcher Jaelyn Gonzalez picked up the victory for the Bobcats. Gonzalez went five innings, gave up two earned runs, and had one strikeout.Â
