BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The Saint Peter's cross country programs wrapped up their fall season on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Lehigh University at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The women raced the 6K, while the men took on their first 10K of the season.
The women's race featured an elite field, with the top 16 athletes finishing under 20 minutes. West Virginia's Joy Naukot claimed the individual title in 19:11.8, ten seconds ahead of the field.
Shirleysa Rivas led the Peacocks with a time of 24:59.7, placing 203rd overall. She was followed by
Dezoara Diaz (32:18.8),
Amanda Hyatt (33:55.4),
Omaria Serrano (38:06.6),
Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher (38:47.7), and
Shania McDuffie (43:05.5).
West Virginia secured its second straight regional title with 56 points, with Georgetown (62) and Penn State (72) rounding out the top three. Saint Peter's placed 30th overall.
On the men's side, the top 11 finishers broke the 30-minute mark, with Georgetown's Birhanu Harriman taking the individual championship in 29:20.6.
Sebastian Lopez was the first finisher for Saint Peter's, placing 159th in 33:24.7. He was followed by
Gerardo Quaglia (34:36.0),
Nicholaus Michael (34:37.3),
Matthew Martinez (34:56.2),
Johan Aparicio (37:13.6),
Christopher Hernandez (37:47.5), and
Jack Cabrera (37:51.8).
Princeton captured the men's team title with 45 points, ahead of Georgetown (63) and Villanova (84). Saint Peter's finished 27th overall.
