NORFOLK, VA.- Saint Peter's Softball split Friday evening's doubleheader with Norfolk State.
The Peacocks salvaged Friday's doubleheader with a 6-3 win in the second game of the doubleheader. In the second game, the Peacocks at one point held a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Peacocks added two more runs in the seventh, which sealed the win.
Tai Turner came in clutch with two RBIs for her Saint Peter's squad.
Hannah Klotz carried momentum from the first game into the second game with three hits. Overall, it was a dominant performance for the Peacocks.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Saint Peter's dropped the opening game, 3-2.
Angelina Wagner started the game on the mound for the Peacocks went six-and-two-third innings. She gave up one earned run and four hits, while striking out four Spartans.
Klotz put the Peacocks in a position for a seventh-inning comeback when she knocked through a two-RBI single down the left field line. Unfortunately, Saint Peter's was unable to send the game into extra innings.
Sophomore second baseman
Olivia Christopher was the Peacocks' hits leader in the first game. Seven Peacocks had a total of nine hits across seven innings.
Following the Friday split, Saint Peter's heads into Saturday with a 1-1 record. The Peacocks will play Mercyhurst University at 9 A.M. and Norfolk State for the third and final time this weekend at 2 p.m.
