SALISBURY, MD.- Saint Peter's Softball swept University of Maryland Eastern Shore in a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex. Through the two games, Saint Peter's outscored UMES by a combined 22-2.
While the offensive output was not the same from the first game to the second game, the Peacocks were in control of both games. Senior infielder
Jess Forte was the star of the game at the plate with a total of four RBIs in Tuesday's doubleheader.
Game One Recap
The Peacocks thumped the Shore Hawks in the opening game of Tuesday afternoon's doubleheader. The route was launched into full gear when the Peacocks scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. 17 of Saint Peter's 19 runs were scored in the second inning and fourth inning. Six different Peacocks had at least two RBIs in the win.
Forte accounted for three RBIs on two hits.
Olivia Christopher,
Dakota Pitts, and
Lauren Czerwinski all had three hits individually. Freshman starting pitcher
Ava White earned the win with three strikeouts over five innings on the mound.
Game Two Recap
The second game lacked the fireworks at the plate, but the Peacocks overcame an early 1-0 deficit to take control of the game. Junior
Tai Turner tied the game in the fifth inning when she drove in Forte. In the sixth inning, Forte cracked the tie with an RBI single that brought home Czerwinski as the go-ahead run. Pitts cemented the win with an additional RBI in the sixth inning.
With Tuesday's two wins, the Peacocks moved to a 4-2 overall record.

Saint Peter's is set to face Central Connecticut State University in a doubleheader on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. This game will be made up after being rescheduled twice from Feb. 8 and Feb. 22.
