RIVERDALE, N.Y.- Saint Peter's Softball was swept by Manhattan University in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Gaelic Park.
Neither of the two games went the Peacocks' way, but the two games had stark contrasts.
Game One Recap
The Peacocks fell to the Jaspers by way of a 2-1 loss that was finalized with a Jaspers comeback win in the bottom of the seventh. After trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Jaspers scored two runs on
Morgan Lipansky to steal the win from the Peacocks.
The loss should not take away from Lipansky's performance. Up until the seventh inning, she pitched six innings of scoreless softball with nine strikeouts. At the plate,
Steph Bendzlowicz drove in Saint Peter's first and only run in the fourth inning with an RBI.
Game Two Recap
The second game mirrored the first when the Peacocks took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning and the Jaspers responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the fourth.
Tai Turner accounted for the Peacocks' first run with an RBI double that scored
Jess Forte.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Jaspers put the game out of reach with a four-run inning. The Jaspers secured a 6-1 win. This weekend series did not end in Saint Peter's favor as the Peacocks lost all three ball games. Sunday's pair of losses sent the Peacocks to a 9-22 record.
