BUFFALO, N.Y.- Saint Peter's Softball was downed by Canisius University in both doubleheader contests on Tuesday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex.
In both games, two separate rough innings for the Peacocks led to the doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Golden Griffins.
Game One Recap
Canisius erased a 2-0 deficit by scoring nine runs in the fifth inning. The Golden Griffins finished the game with 10 unanswered runs to seal a 10-2 win over the Peacocks.
Game Two Recap
Canisius was victorious in a 16-7 route of Saint Peter's. In a similar fashion, the Golden Griffins were down 2-0 in the first inning until they erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. That early offensive explosion put the game out of reach for the Peacocks.
Of the team's seven runs,
Jess Forte accounted for four of them. Her first run contribution took place with a first inning sacrifice fly. Forte went on to blast a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
