FAIRFIELD, Conn.- Saint Peter's split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference twin bill against Fairfield University. The Peacocks fell short in the opener 5-0 but staged a come from behind victory in the nightcap to take game two 5-4.

The Peacocks move to 11-31 overall and 2-18 in the MAAC, while the Stags stand at 20-23 and 13-6 in conference play.
Game One Recap
The Peacocks were held to seven hits in the opener as
Dakota Pitts and
Ashley Murphy each went 2-for-3 to account for four of the team's seven hits.

The Stags got on the board with two runs in the opening inning, adding a run in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Brielle Coppola tossed a complete game, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits with one strikeout.

Game Two Recap
Fairfield again took an early lead in the nightcap with one run in the first and two in the second for a 3-0 lead.

Saint Peter's bats came alive in the fourth as
Taylor Montgomery was hit by a pitch to start the inning, while
Tai Turner followed with a single, advancing to second on an error to put runners in scoring position. Pitts ripped a two-run double to slice the score to 3-2 and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Hannah Klotz tied the game at 3-3 with a run scoring single, while
Steph Bendzlowicz put the Peacocks in the lead with a double.

Fairfield pulled even with a run in the fifth but Saint Peter's answered in seventh.
Olivia Christopher drew a leadoff walk, moved to second on a single and reached third safely on a fly out. Turner lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Christopher with the go-ahead run, taking a 5-4 lead.

Coppola, who had come on in relief, retired the side in the seventh to secure the win and earn the split for the Peacocks. She tossed five innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run on six hits, striking out three to earn the win.
