JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's University baseball team dropped two games at home to Mount St. Mary's at Jaroschak Field on Sunday. The Peacocks fell, 12-17, in the first game and, 15-4, in the second game.
The Peacocks (11-34, 5-21 MAAC) outhit the Mountaineers (22-27, 14-13 MAAC) in the first game 21-to-16 but then let up seven more hits in the second game.
Despite the losses, Saint Peter's honored its 16 senior student-athletes prior to the start of the games. The 16 seniors included

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME TWO: Mount St. Mary's struck first with two runs in the third inning for an early lead over the Peacocks. The Mountaineers quickly extended their lead to 6-0 with four straight runs in the fourth.
Smith put the Peacocks on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a bomb to right in the team's first at bat of the inning. Saint Peter's went on to score five more runs in the inning to tie the game. Baker,
Sean Martinez, Greco, Wilson and Vining all contributed with hits.
The Peacocks found themselves tied, 6-6, with the Mountaineers heading into the top of the fifth.
Baker picked up his second RBI of the day in the bottom of the fifth after a shot through the left side, putting the Peacocks up 7-6. On the next at bat, Kendrick hit a ball to the right corner to bring
Tyler DeClusin home. The Peacocks added two more runs and ended the inning with a 10-6 advantage.
The Mountaineers started to chip away at the Saint Peter's lead, coming within just two at 10-12 in the ninth inning. Mount St. Mary's managed to score two more runs to tie the game at 12-12 and send it to extra innings.
Neither team scored in the 10th, but the Mountaineers then rattled off five runs in the top of the 11th to win 17-12.
GAME THREE: The Peacocks found themselves in an early hole again, facing a 0-5 deficit after the first three innings. Later on, Saint Peter's stormed back in the bottom of the fifth with four runs to come within one.
A pair of Mount St. Mary's errors helped the Peacocks make it to home plate and get back in the game. The Mountaineers responded strongly with four runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh.
The game was called after the seventh inning since Mount St. Mary's led by 10+ runs.
UP NEXT
The Peacocks will travel to Iona for their last series of the regular season next weekend. Game one will take place Thursday, May 15 at 3 p.m. ET followed by the second game on Friday at 5 p.m. and the last game on Saturday at noon.
