NEWARK, N.J.- Saint Peter's baseball program marked their first win of the season with a 4-2 victory over The Highlanders at Yogi Berra Stadium Saturday morning.
RJ Azarieh and
Max Abrams had a game to remember, each hitting a home run and adding two RBIs to their line.
James Ellis also had a decent performance on the mound for seven innings and recorded 5 strikeouts for the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
SPU would not score their first run till the top of the fifth inning, where Abrams would send the ball to center field for a home run, sending him and
Luke Schwartz to home plate, followed by a strong defensive effort at the bottom of the fifth.
NJIT answered back in the bottom of the sixth and eighth with two runs of their own after an unsuccessful outing by the Peacocks at the top of both innings.
Both sides would struggle at bat, with either side being able to score a run going into the ninth, leading the game to go to extra innings, where Azarieh would send the ball to left field for a home run, sending him and
Joey Dwyer home for the victory over NJIT.
