NEW ROCHELLE, NY– The Saint Peter's softball team (7-38, 3-22 MAAC) concluded its final road conference series with a 7-2 loss to Iona Sunday afternoon at Donald E. Walsh Field at Rice Oval.
Angela Tremarco paced the offense with the only multi-hit performance of the day.
Morgan Lipansky (3-11) made her second start of the weekend, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three earned runs on two hits.
Brielle Coppola came on in relief, surrendering four earned runs on seven hits.

WHAT HAPPENED
Iona opened the scoring early with a three-run first inning. The Gaels put the first two batters on with a single and a hit by pitch before a fielder's choice loaded the bases. A sacrifice fly and a triple brought home three runs for a 3-0 lead.
The Gaels extended their advantage to 4-0 in the third with a two-out single and double to center field.
Saint Peter's was held to just one hit through the first five innings– a first-inning single from
Angela Tremarco.
Iona added two more runs in the fifth with a one-out inside-the-park home run, followed by a single and a double to right-center to make it 6-0.
The Peacocks got on the board in the sixth. Pinch hitters
Ashley Murphy and
Bella Nutting started the rally with a hit by pitch and a single to put runners on the corners with one out. Tremarco followed with a hard-hit infield single to drive in Murphy, and a fielder's choice off the bat of
Carlee Charles brought home Nutting to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Iona answered in the bottom half of the inning with a walk, a stolen base, and an RBI single to left-center to extend the lead to 7-2.
Saint Peter's threatened in the seventh with a two-out single from
Kiana Kadena Matsuda, but a strikeout ended the game, completing the sweep for Iona.
